Introduction to Therapeutic Adventure Programming for Challenging Youth

Workshop Description:  Participants will be immersed in an experiential learning environment in a residential setting where they will be introduced to theories and practices of therapeutic adventure programming, with a focus on facilitating for a challenging youth population.  The workshop will be delivered in a compressed format continuously over a 4-day experience, November 5-8, 2015.  Classroom sessions will provide theoretical foundations, and hands-on adventure experiences will serve to extend and consolidate the learning, all supported through group discussions. This workshop is equally well-suited for camp directors, program developers, senior instructors, school teachers, and wilderness guides, as well as leaders and educators from other sectors.  While challenging youth will serve as the population of focus, participants are encouraged to bring their experiences, comments, and questions related to the population of their choice to enhance the broaden the discussion.

 Instructor and Location: Jeremie Carreau, MHK, will lead this unique learning experience with the support of colleagues and using the diverse resources and facilities available through ACHIEVE Adventure, Wilderness & Training Programs at Wendigo Lake Expeditions (WLE) near South River ON.
